Symmetry and Image Resolution - Video Lesson

Hey, everybody. Welcome to today's lesson on k space in MRI. In this lesson, we will introduce a few important facts about k space. We will discuss the symmetry of kSpace, called conjugate symmetry. Then, we will cover how data being collected in kSpace can alter the resolution and time of the scan. These concepts will influence what pulse sequences you use and how you fill k space. So it's important to have a firm grasp on them. Let's get started. Conjugate symmetry occurs when multiple data points in k space are identical. Each side of an echo is a mirror image of the other side because the re phasing and de phasing of the echo are the same. The peak of the echo is the middle of the echo when the protons are completely in phase. The echo has the same exact shape on both sides.
