CT Coronary Arteries - Video Lesson

Hey everybody, welcome back. This lesson is about the coronary arteries as seen in CT imaging. We'll start with a volume rendered image. This is a CT volume rendered image of the heart. This image is helpful because it demonstrates the surface of the heart, especially the coronary circulatory system. The coronary circulatory system is the network of arteries responsible for supplying oxygenated blood to the myocardium of the heart itself. All of the major branches of the coronary circulatory system ultimately originate at the ascending aorta. In this image, we can see the right coronary artery, commonly abbreviated RCA, branching from the base of the right side of the ascending aorta and supplying oxygenated blood to the right side of the heart. On the left side of the ascending aorta, we can see the left main coronary artery, commonly abbreviated LMCA or just LCA. This vessel immediately branches
