Hey everybody, welcome back. This lesson is about the anatomy of the heart as seen in CT imaging. We'll start with an illustration. This is an illustration of the heart. It's been dissected in a way so that we can see all of the major chambers, as well as the incoming and outgoing vascular structures. We'll identify the major structures of the heart in the order of blood flow. Deoxygenated blood is transmitted to the heart by the superior and the inferior vena cava. The superior vena cava provides venous drainage for the upper half of the body, including the chest, arms, and the head and neck. The inferior vena cava provides venous drainage for the lower half of the body, including the abdomen, pelvis, and lower extremities.
