CT Knee - Video Lesson
Hey everybody, welcome back. This lesson is about the knee as seen in CT imaging. We'll start with a volume rendered image. This is a volume rendered CT image of the left knee. The knee is the joint formed by three bones, the femur, the patella, and the tibia. CT imaging of the knee will also demonstrate the fibula. The fibula does not contribute to the knee joint, but it is an important feature of the lower leg and ankle. We'll discuss the normal anatomy for each of these bones, starting with the femur. The femurs are the largest and strongest bones in the body. The most prominent feature of the distal femur is the medial and lateral condyles. These condyles are the rounded features that articulate with the tibia to form the knee joint. Most of the other features of the distal femur can be described according to their relationship to these condyles. Above the condyles, we can see the medial and lateral epicondyles. These are the bony protrusions that serve as attachment points for some of the ligaments and muscle
