CT Degenerative & Inflammatory Diseases - Video Lesson
Hey everybody, welcome back. This lesson is about some degenerative and inflammatory diseases of the extremities that we observe in CT imaging. We'll start with a degenerative condition called osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis can affect any joint in any part of the body, including the joints of the extremities. Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease characterized by progressive loss of articular cartilage, bone remodeling, and osteophyte formation. Osteoarthritis becomes more common and eventually inevitable as a person ages. It's simply the result of normal wear and tear over the course of a person's life. Its imaging appearance is the same as its description. It typically presents as joint space narrowing with bone remodeling and osteophyte formation. That's what we can see in this patient.
