CT Male Pelvis - Video Lesson

Everybody, welcome back. This lesson is about the anatomy of the male pelvis as seen in CT imaging. We'll start with a sagittal view. Male and female anatomy is substantially the same, but not exactly the same. These differences are most pronounced in the pelvis. This is a midsagittal reformation of a male pelvis. He received both intravenous and oral contrast. He was scanned during the portal venous phase of contrast enhancement. The anterior floor of the pelvic cavity is formed by the pubic symphysis. This is the union of the right and left pubic bones at the midline of the body. We can also see the urinary bladder, usually just called the bladder. The urinary bladder is a hollow muscular organ located on the floor of the anterior pelvic cavity stores urine produced by the kidneys. The urinary bladder will always be positioned here, directly adjacent to the pubic symphysis in both male and female patients. The size of the urinary bladder can vary considerably depending on the amount of urine retained in the bladder. The
