CT Large Bowel Pathologies - Video Lesson
Hey everybody, welcome back. This lesson is about the most common gynecological pathologies observed in CT imaging. Gynecological refers to the female reproductive system. We'll start with endometrial carcinoma. Endometrial carcinoma is the most common gynecological cancer. Endometrial carcinoma is a malignant tumor arising from the endometrium, that's the lining of the uterus, most commonly seen in postmenopausal women. Vaginal bleeding in a postmenopausal woman is one of the first signs of endometrial carcinoma. It presents as diffuse thickening of the uterine wall, again called the endometrium. CT is not used for initial evaluation, but it may be useful for identifying distant metastases and other complications. This image represents the typical presentation of endometrial carcinoma. The patient is a sixty year old postmenopausal woman. CT imaging with contrast demonstrates diffuse thickening of the uterine wall.
