CT Pharynx, Larynx, & Trachea - Video Lesson

Hey everybody, welcome back. This lesson is about some important structures of the neck, the pharynx, larynx, and trachea, as seen in CT imaging. We'll start in the sagittal plane. This is a midsagittal view of the neck. The scan protocol was a soft tissue neck with iodinated contrast. This scan is typically reconstructed in the standard algorithm and displayed to maximize soft tissue visibility using four hundred window width and a forty window level. The pharynx is the shared passageway for food and liquid to the stomach and air to the lungs. It can be divided into three segments. The first segment is the nasopharynx. The nasopharynx is located directly posterior to the nose and nasal cavity. The lower boundary of the nasopharynx is marked by the soft palate. The second segment is the oropharynx. The oropharynx is located just posterior to the mouth. It extends from the soft palate
