CT Body Cavities and Divisions - Video Lesson

Hey everybody, welcome back. This lesson is about body cavities and the abdominal quadrants we commonly reference for CT imaging. We'll start with the body cavities. The body is compartmentalized into two main cavities. The first is the dorsal cavity on the back or posterior side of the body and the ventral cavity on the front or anterior side of the body. These two cavities are further subdivided into smaller cavities. So first, the dorsal cavity. The dorsal cavity is located posteriorly and includes two cavities. The cranial cavity, which of course contains the brain and the spinal cavity, also called the vertebral cavity, which contains the spinal cord. The ventral cavity on the anterior side of the patient is much larger. The ventral cavity on the anterior side of the body contains multiple cavities and sub cavities that can be described in a number of different ways.
