CT Parietal Bones - Video Lesson

Hey, everybody. Welcome back. This lesson is about the parietal bones as seen in CT imaging. We'll start with a volume rendered image. This image is a volume rendered CT image of the cranium, including the parietal bones. The parietal bones form the roof and sides of the cranial vault. This is the left parietal bone, and of course, there is a matching parietal bone on the other side of the cranium. These two parietal bones converge at the roof of the cranium at the sagittal suture. The sagittal suture is just barely visible in this image. The parietal bones also join several other cranial bones. Anteriorly, the parietal bones articulate with the frontal bone at a joint called the coronal suture. Inferiorly, the parietal bones articulate with the temporal bones at a joint called the squamous suture. In the lateral view, we can see these same structures and more. We can see the parietal bones
