CT Facial Bones (Anatomy) - Video Lesson

Hey, everybody. Welcome back. This lesson is an overview of the facial bones as seen in CT imaging. We'll use a volume rendered image. This is a volume rendered CT image of the facial bones. The facial bones include a total of fourteen bones, most of which can be seen on the surface of this image. There are two nasal bones forming the bridge of the nose. There are also two lacrimal bones that form a small part of the medial orbital walls. In fact, they are so small and so thin that they are barely visible in this volume rendered image. There are two inferior nasal conchae within the nasal cavity. Also within the nasal cavity, we can see the vomer. The vomer is a thin, flat bone that extends from the base of the nasal cavity to join to the perpendicular plate of the ethmoid bone to form the bony nasal septum. The nasal septum separates the nasal cavity into right and left halves. The zygoma, also called the zygomatic bone,
