CT Dural Sinuses - Video Lesson

Hey everybody, welcome back. This lesson is about the dural sinuses as seen in CT imaging. We'll start with an illustration. This is an illustration of the dural sinuses within the brain. The dural sinuses, also called the dural venous sinuses, are the venous drainage system of the brain. These veins are called the dural sinuses because they are formed within various folds of the dura mater. The superior sagittal sinus is the large venous cavity formed by the falx cerebri within the longitudinal fissure. It follows the entire length of the longitudinal fissure directly adjacent to the cranial bones. The superior sagittal sinus empties into the confluence of sinuses. The inferior sagittal sinus also runs within the longitudinal fissure of the inferior edge of the falx cerebri. At the level of the cerebellum, it becomes the straight sinus and also empties into the confluence of sinuses. The straight sinus runs along the attachment of the falx cerebri
