CT Benign Brain Tumors - Video Lesson

Hey everybody. Thanks for watching. This lesson is about benign brain tumors as seen in CT imaging. It's helpful to remember this classification system for brain tumors. All brain tumors are either malignant or benign. Malignant tumors are cancerous, meaning they invade other tissues and can spread to other parts of the body. Malignant brain tumors include glioblastomas, astrocytomas, medulloblastomas, and cerebral metastases. This lesson is about benign brain tumors. The most common benign brain tumors are meningiomas, pituitary adenomas and acoustic neuromas. We'll start with meningiomas. Meningiomas are benign tumors growing from the meninges on the surface of the brain and spinal cord. They are extra axial, meaning they do not stem directly from the brain parenchyma. They typically present as a single, well defined, brightly enhancing homogenous mass on the surface of the brain
